Flip your text upside down using Unicode characters — ɥǝllo dlɹoʍ. Perfect for prank Instagram bios, funny WhatsApp messages, and hidden text effects. Copy and paste anywhere.
A free upside-down text generator that flips your text using Unicode characters that approximate inverted glyphs. Includes 4 variants: Upside Down (full flip + reverse, the classic), Mirror Text (character mirror only, no reverse), Reverse Text (just reverse the string), and Backward Words (reverse each word but keep word order). Uses character mappings for letters, digits, and punctuation, then optionally reverses the string so it reads naturally upside-down when viewed. Paste-safe across Instagram bios, WhatsApp messages, Twitter / X, Discord, and any platform supporting Unicode. No signup, no installs.
Upside-down text relies on the fact that the Unicode standard contains many letter-like glyphs that happen to look like rotated versions of standard letters. The lowercase "h" rotated 180 degrees looks just like the IPA phonetic symbol ɥ (U+0265, "Latin small letter turned h"). Many of these "turned" or "reversed" characters were defined for linguistics, not for fun, but they happen to be perfect for visual flipping. The tool maps each input character to its turned counterpart, then reverses the entire string so reading the result top-to-bottom right-to-left produces the original sentence rotated 180 degrees.
For characters where no clean turned-version exists in Unicode, the tool falls back to a visually similar character or leaves the original unchanged. Capital letters like "B", "C", "D", "E", "G", "K", "P", "Q", "R" do not have perfect upside-down counterparts — the result uses approximations (Cyrillic "Ɔ", combinations of other glyphs). Numbers mostly work: 6 and 9 are mirror images of each other in most fonts, 8 looks the same upside down, others have approximations. Punctuation is reliably mapped: period to dot above, comma to apostrophe, exclamation to inverted exclamation (the Spanish ¡).
Upside-down text uses Unicode characters that approximate inverted glyphs — for example "h" flips to "ɥ" (a real IPA phonetic symbol). For some letters there is no perfect upside-down equivalent in Unicode, so the closest visual match is used. Capital H, I, N, O, S, X, Z look the same flipped as upright. The result is "looks upside-down" rather than "perfectly mirrored" — fine for funny posts, but not pixel-perfect.
Upside Down maps each character to its upside-down equivalent and then reverses the string — so reading right-to-left top-to-bottom, the original sentence appears upside-down. Mirror maps to mirror-image equivalents but does not reverse the string — useful for visual mirror effects. Reverse only reverses the string with no character mapping ("Hello" → "olleH"). Backward Words reverses each word individually but keeps word order ("Hello World" → "olleH dlroW").
Yes. Every character used is standard Unicode, supported by iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, and inside every major app. Some legacy SMS gateways may strip non-ASCII characters; if your text gets corrupted, the platform is using a non-Unicode-aware path. iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Twitter / X, Instagram, and Facebook all support upside-down Unicode flawlessly.
Yes — that is exactly what Upside Down mode does. Type your message normally, copy the upside-down result, and send it. The recipient holding their phone the right way up will see flipped text; turning their phone upside-down (or tilting their head) makes it readable as normal. Great for jokes and prank messages.
No — screen readers will announce each character by its Unicode name ("LATIN SMALL LETTER TURNED H, LATIN SMALL LETTER TURNED E…") which is unintelligible. Avoid upside-down text in any context where users with vision impairments may need to read it. It is for visual fun only.
