Find out exactly how much you need to retire — and whether your current savings will outlive you. Multi-currency (USD/INR/AED) with inflation-adjusted drawdown projection.
A complete retirement planner that answers the one question that matters: will I outlive my money? Enter your current age, target retirement age, life expectancy, monthly expenses, and savings — and instantly see your required corpus, your projected corpus, the gap (surplus or shortfall), and the additional monthly investment needed to close it. Includes a year-by-year withdrawal-phase projection table and a corpus trajectory chart showing accumulation followed by drawdown against your target line. Built for India, the US, and UAE with sensible defaults you can override.
Retirement planning collapses into two numbers: the corpus you need at retirement, and the corpus you are projected to have. The gap between them — surplus or shortfall — is the only metric that matters. Required corpus depends on your future expenses (today's expenses inflated by 25–30 years), your life expectancy, and the safer post-retirement return rate. Projected corpus depends on what you have already saved, how much you keep adding monthly, and your pre-retirement return rate. This calculator computes both, every keystroke, in your currency of choice.
At 6% inflation (India), monthly expenses of ₹60,000 today balloon to ₹3.4 lakh in 30 years — over 5× more. At 3% (US/UAE), $4,000/month becomes ~$9,700/month. Most retirement plans fail not because returns are too low, but because expenses were estimated in today's money. This tool inflates your expenses correctly and uses the real post-retirement return to determine how long your corpus actually lasts.
If the calculator shows a shortfall, you have three levers: save more (the additional monthly investment number tells you exactly how much), retire later (every extra year compounds heavily and reduces years in retirement), or lower retirement expenses (downsize, relocate, eliminate debt before retiring). Pair this calculator with our SIP Calculator to plan the monthly contribution and our Net Worth Calculator to track the journey.
We inflate your current monthly expenses to your retirement age, then compute the present value (at retirement) of those annual expenses growing with inflation, withdrawn over your remaining life expectancy, earning the post-retirement return rate. This is the lump sum you need on day one of retirement.
Defaults are calibrated by region: India uses 6% inflation and 12% equity returns; the US and UAE use 3% inflation and 12% pre-retirement / 7% post-retirement returns. Adjust based on your asset mix — lower returns are safer assumptions.
Most retirees shift from equity-heavy portfolios (10–12% expected return) to a safer mix of bonds, FDs, and dividend stocks (6–8%). Modeling both phases separately gives you a realistic drawdown projection.
The drawdown table simulates withdrawing your inflation-adjusted expenses every year of retirement. If your projected corpus depletes before life expectancy, the table flags the year — and the chart shows the corpus hitting zero. The fix is more savings, later retirement, or lower expenses.
They are mathematically accurate for the inputs you provide, but real life has volatility, taxes, healthcare shocks, and sequence-of-returns risk. Treat the result as a planning baseline, not a guarantee. Stress-test with lower returns and higher inflation.
